Bedroom Art With Good Feng Shui - Selecting Appropriate Images For Your Bedroom

The bedroom is the site of relaxation, romance, and rest. Designed well, the bedroom can inspire couples to feel more romantic and stir their passions. If not, relationships can dwindle down to a friendly, not so romantic, handshake. If bedrooms are a place of activity, such as exercise, work, hobbies, or other interests, then they will not be the restful space they were intended to be. There is a fine line between creating the bedroom that inspires you and the bedroom that depletes you.

One of the first areas this shows up in is the artwork. Feng shui has stringent rules regarding bedrooms - and correspondingly - the art that goes into them. Time after time, I see bedrooms during feng shui consultations whose artwork appears to be whatever was leftover from the rest of the house. Or, the symbolism of the art in relationship to the room it is displayed in is not taken into account, such as winter scenes in a marriage bedroom. This can fill the bedroom with all the wrong messages. Bbbbrrrrr.......

Bedrooms should display the messages that inspire the person (or persons) who occupy the room. Artwork should reflect their tastes, interests, and desires while still following feng shui guidelines. This will help to ensure that negative messages or inappropriate messages don't distract from the principal goals of the bedroom: rest, romance, and relaxation.

Look at all the bedrooms in the house. Determine if they are inspiring and if they are making the appropriate statements for the room. For example, a scary Spiderman poster that looks like Spiderman is going to jump off the wall may create a frightening bedroom for a young boy.

Or, pictures of the kids in a marriage bedroom create too much "kid energy" and can be uncomfortable for romance, causing marital passion to wither. Next, take into account feng shui guidelines, such as eliminating mirrors, pictures of dragons, deities. or vicious animals.

Sleeping is a time when we must be the most protected and cared-for. This is why it makes sense to make sure that your bedrooms support you, your family, and your relationships.

Art in Children's Bedrooms

* Avoid vicious animals and scary figures.

* Place happy, bright images in the children's bedrooms

* Display images of skill and learning, such as pictures of globes and books or any kind of learning experience

* DON'T hang pictures of water, lakes, or oceans

* Avoid pictures of religious themes, such as crosses or religious figures

* Select pictures of animals that are positive, such as horses (good for sons) that look happy and strong, not frightened. Turtles are also beneficial. Avoid frogs and toads which can appear to "eat" whatever is in the room.

* DO have pictures of parents in children's bedroom to inspire better behavior and greater respect

* Clouds are very popular for children's bedrooms. Be certain that if you have clouds on the ceiling, that the child's head is not covered by a cloud as this will create "a cloud over his/her head" and this can lead to a number of difficulties. (The same is true for adult bedrooms.)

Art in Adult Bedrooms

* For couples, DO place pictures of pairs (geese, ducks, chairs, vases, etc.) to foster togetherness

* Avoid pictures of heavenly images deities, religious figures, etc.

* Avoid pictures of singular items that suggest being alone

* Avoid pictures of flowers and plants, unless someone is ill. Plants and pictures of plants or flowers will cause couples to argue.

* DO have pictures of love, such as couples in an embrace, tasteful nudes, or affection

* DON'T have pictures of children in the bedroom. You have enough "kid time" already. Have one place in the house that is devoted solely to you and your mate.

* If single, make sure you have pictures in the bedroom that represent the energy you are trying to attract, i.e., a single woman seeking a man should hang pictures that show men or have men strongly in the scene.

* To create opportunities for yourself, place a picture of an open field on the wall opposite the bed. This suggests the way of your life is open and obstacles are removed.

Potting Shed Plans - The Best Place to Find Them

Potting shed plans are great to have, as it's like having a map to where you need to travel to. Without a good map or a good plan, you could get lost. But plans can come in different levels of quality, just as maps can. If you have a map of the country with a little dot that says, "you are here", and another little mark named, "you want to go here", then this "map" isn't going to be much of a help at all. The same goes for building plans. If you hope to benefit from a small schematic included on a page of a magazine crammed into an article on better home gardening, then you're quite hopeful indeed.

We can find some magazines and books that are a bit more focused on this subject at our local home center warehouse, but these aren't always any better than the above mentioned example, and just the same, the measurements can often be misprinted or otherwise completely wrong as well. It's pretty much the same, potting shed plans crammed in and among article text, though the plans may be a bit more explanatory than in other magazines.

The best place to find potting shed plans is actually right here online. I've downloaded tons of blueprints and plans myself, and all of them were clear, precise, and full of step by step instructions. No articles on how to make a pretty garden space or to feng shui my back yard, just plans, plain and simple. This, my fellow do-it-yourself friends, is how it should be.

What Are the Five Steps of Tai Chi Chuan As Related to the Taoist Five Elements?

The five elements are central to Taoist philosophy and serve as a paradigm for everything from Chinese medicine, to feng shui, to cooking, to martial arts and much more. The five elements have been at the heart of Chinese culture for thousands of years. These elements were once the everyday things of an old agricultural society. The Taoist five elements are: metal, water, wood, fire, and earth. These are depicted around a pentagram - the circle representing a cycle of creation, and the inner star representing a cycle of neutralization. For example, on the outer circle, water follows metal because metal is said to create the conditions that allow water to manifest. Remember that this was during a time of no central heat or A/C. If you left a rice pot sitting on the stove cooling overnight, in the morning you would find water droplets beaded up inside and possibly outside the wall of the metal pot. This is the action of condensation.

Wood follows water, as water rains down upon the earth and feeds plant life. Fire follows wood, as something like wood is needed to help fire manifest. Earth follows fire, as there are ashes left behind when something burns. Finally, metal follows earth, as metal is obtained by refining the earth.

The inner star of the five elements pentagram links neutralizing qualities. For example, a line links water to fire, as water squelches a fire. Earth is connected by a line to water, as earth absorbs water and restricts its flow. Metal is connected to wood, as metal implements like axes were used to cut down the wood and break it into smaller pieces. Fire connects to metal, as heat was used to liquefy metal, and wood connects to earth, as wood sucks the nutrients out of the earth, and the roots of trees break up the solidity of the earth.

What Are the Five Steps of Tai Chi Chuan As Related to the Taoist Five Elements?

In tai chi, there are only a few things your footwork will allow your body to do. You can go forward, backward, turn left, turn right and move up and down. Any other footwork on the ground is just some combination of these directions. Even if you jump or kick, you are doing it by way of these five directions. And so an author of the Tai Chi Classics related these five basic directions to the five elements. The author is reputed to have been Zhang San Feng.

The correspondences he wrote are as follows: metal = advancing, wood = retreating, water = turning the body leftward, fire = turning the body rightward, and earth represents either moving up and down, or pausing movement at an equilibrium point. It's important that you can maintain your structure, peng and root while moving between the "five steps." Very few people understand that tai chi principles of structure are very easily lost the moment that movement begins! That is why Zhang San Feng placed so much importance on the footwork - so much so that he associated each directional move with a core concept from Taoist philosophy. If he didn't think that paying such concentration on footwork was important, he certainly would not have associated it with the five elements!

How much attention to detail and awareness do you place on your footwork?
